A lot of false speculations spreading about COVID_19. This should be a period where we all should be more careful, hygiene conscious and try to avoid crowded places as much as possible. One more thing: Try to share information you are sure of. This is a very sensitive matter, especially in this part of the world where we joke about alot of things.

Myth: Face masks can protect you from the virus
Facts: Standard masks cannot protect you from COVID_19, as they are not designed to block out viral particles, it only prevents us from spreading the virus by blocking droplets from the mouth.
Myth: The virus is just a modified form of common cold
Facts: No, it's not. Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that includes many different diseases. Coronaviruses cause acute, mild upper respiratory infection (common cold).
Myth: Kids can't get coronavirus
Facts: Children can definitely catch COVID-19, when children become infected, they seem less likely to develop severe diseases.
Myth: Vitamin C supplements prevents you from catching COVID-19
Facts: There's no found evidence on this, although vitamin C serves essential roles in the human body. It doesn't prevent one from getting the virus.
Myth: It's not safe to receive a package from China
Facts: For a virus to remain viable, it needs a combination of specific environmental conditions such as temperature, lack of UV exposure and humidity. This packages are sealed and most atimes in conditions that aren't favourable for the virus. Therefore it's safe to receive packages from China.
Myth: Antibiotics can treat the coronavirus.
Facts: The coronavirus is a virus, not a bacterial infection, so antibiotics can’t treat it.
Myth: You’ll get COVID-19 from some foods.
Facts: Coronavirus cannot grow in food.
Coronavirus needs a host (a person or animal, excluding pets) to spread through, and it’s therefore unlikely for people to get COVID-19 from food.
Myth: Preventive medicines can keep you safe from COVID-19.
Facts: Self medication with any remedy or medicine can be potentially harmful.
Although it’s important to have a strong immune system to fight off viruses. Supplements are therefore advised instead of self medication.
Myth: Melanin helps protect people of colour against Coronavirus.
Facts: Melanin is a natural pigment that gives colour to skin and eyes. It does not make you any less susceptible to coronavirus. It only protect us from damage by ultraviolet light.
